Bible Verses About Salvation and Being Saved

The New Testament speaks of salvation as a gift: rescue from sin and death, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. These are the passages people most often turn to when asking how to be saved.

9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

A gift of grace

Paul writes that salvation is by grace through faith, not by works, so no one can boast. It is something received, not earned.

Believing and confessing

Several passages describe the response: believing in the Lord Jesus, and confessing with the mouth and believing in the heart that God raised Him from the dead.
